Boroujerdi after visiting Moghniyeh's tomb: Iran serious about arming LAF, at disposal of Lebanese Government

NNA - Chairman of the Committee for Foreign Policy and National Security at the Iranian Shura Council, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, reiterated the readiness of the Islamic Republic of Iran to arm the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and asserted that this matter was at the disposal of the Lebanese Government. "We renew our commitment to arm the Lebanese army, which we discussed with former Defense Minister Samir Mokbel during his visit to Iran; and this matter is now in the hands of the Lebanese Government," Boroujerdi said after commenting on renewing Lebanon-Iran bilateral relations in the wake of the presidential elections. Boroujerdi considered that the stability and the security that Lebanon was witnessing was made possible by the sacrificees of Resistance fighters and Mujahideen. He felicitated the Lebanese people for electing President Michel Aoun as head of State, following more than two years of presidential vacuum, hoping that this era would strengthen and enhance cooperation between the two countries in various fields, especially on the economic and trade levels. Boroujerdi's statement came after visiting Imad Moghniye's tomb in Ghobeiri. He was accompanied by Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon, Mohammad Fateh-Ali, and a delegation of deputies.
