Brazil Foreign Minister visits Thailand

BANGKOK, May 10 (TNA) -- Brazilian Foreign Minister Aloysio Nunes meet with Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha during his visit to Thailand on Wednesday. Mr Nunes is the first Brazilian foreign minister to visit Thailand in 21 years. Government deputy spokesman Lt General Weerachon Sukhontapatipak said Nunes visited Thailand on behalf of President Michel Termer who was previously scheduled to visit the Kingdom. Gen Prayut reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to Thai-Brazilian strategic partnership to further elevate economic relationship. The two countries celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relation next year, the spokesman noted. The premier invited Brazil to consider investment opportunities in Thailand in such industries as petrochemical, food innovation and aviation, Lt General Weerachon said. Gen Prayut also discussed about bilateral cooperation in tourism as Brazilian were the largest group of tourists from Latin America to travel to Thailand last year, said Lt General Weerachon. (TNA)
