BRICS countries not seeking to set up international organization - Russian ambassador

BEIJING, August 28. /TASS/. BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) don’t have the goal of creating an international organization and call for equality in international relations, Russian Ambassador to China Andrei Denisov told reporters on Monday. "We, five BRICS members are different countries with their own interests, history and views. We don’t have any goal of setting up an international organization," the ambassador said. "BRICS is not an organization. We neither have discipline nor institutional forms nor secretariat. This is a group of countries united by recognizing their responsibility for the fates of their people and population in the whole world," Denisov said. "With all differences, our countries are united in a key thing - defending equality in modern international relations and searching for equality in looking for collective decisions in response to the current challenges," he said. "We believe it is important to foster trust in international relations in general and absolutely oppose any dictatorship, one viewpoint or idea, as the modern world does not tolerate unilateral and one-sided approaches even if someone considers them as right," the diplomat stressed. "Our leaders have to discuss a whole range of vital international issues, including those that concern the entire mankind. I have no doubt that in the end an agreement will be reached on principal issues and the upcoming summit will become an important event that will have a stabilizing impact on regional and international situation," Denisov said. The BRICS summit will be held in China’s Xiamen, Fujian Province, on September 3-5. Read more
