BRICS enlargement possible, says Chinese deputy foreign minister

BEIJING, July 7 (Itar-Tass) - China considers it possible to expand further the BRICS developing-nation assembly of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, but it is necessary to work out rules of procedure, says Deputy Foreign Minister Li Baodong. “The BRICS structure has an inclusive nature and it is open. It aims to democratise international relations and to strengthen co-operation between developing countries,” he told a briefing on Monday, devoted to Chinese President Xi Jinping’s participation in the sixth BRICS summit in Brazil from July 15 to 16. Many states would like to join the structure but this required them to undergo a certain procedure, Li Baodong said. “BRICS members should agree through internal consultations on basic rules of procedure,” he said. “China is ready to address the issue.” Learn more on itar-tass.com
