Chief of Defence Forces of Thailand, Singapore meet

BANGKOK, Jan 15 (TNA) -- Thailand's Chief of Defence Forces Gen Thanchaiyan Srisuwan today welcomed his Singaporean counterpart on his official visit to the country to discuss mutual regional security and economic development concerns. Gen. Tharachaiyan today welcomed Lt Gen Perry Lim Cheng Yeow, Chief of Defence Force of the Singapore Armed Forces and his delegation at the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters on their official visit from January 14-16. Bilateral cooperation concerns such as regional security intelligence sharing, training, co-development of weapons industries and combined sea and air patrols in the Straights of Malacca are the agendas of the discussion. It is hoped that this meeting will result in increased cooperation between not only the armed forces of both countries but also expand into a collective regional effort among all ASEAN member countries.
