China ready to cooperate with Iran on counterterrorism, drug control

TEHRAN,July 7(MNA) – A senior Chinese official on Friday pledged to advance cooperation with Iran on the issues of counterterrorism and drug control, Xinhua reported. Meng Jianzhu, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remarks during a meeting with Iran’s Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar in Beijing. Meng, who is also the secretary of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee, praised the stable development of bilateral ties as well as the fruitful cooperation between the two countries. He said that China was willing to work with Iran to seriously implement the important consensus reached by both leaders and further beef up political mutual trust, so as to benefit their people. On Thursday, Mohammad-Najjar held talks with Chinese Public Security Minister Guo Shengkun. The two sides signed a cooperative document on jointly cracking down transnational crimes.
