Declining satisfaction with government but continuous support for PM: Poll
BANGKOK, Feb 22 (TNA) -- A recent opinion survey by Bangkok University showed that respondents were less satisfied with the government but continued to support Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha for his decisiveness.
The university conducted the survey this month as the government has stayed in power for one year and a half.
The government scored 5.92 out of 10 points for satisfaction with its administration. The score edged down slightly from 5.94 on the 1st anniversary of its tenure and 6.20 when the government had worked for six months. The government scored best at 7.10 for security and the least at 5.04 on economic affairs.
For satisfaction with the prime minister’s performances, he scored 7.24, up from 7.11 at the 1st anniversary of his tenure. In the latest survey, the prime minister made higher scores in all aspects with the top one of 7.95 for his decisiveness and the least score of 6.10 for creativity.
When asked if respondents will choose Gen Prayut as the prime minister if they have the right to do so now, 58.6% of them said they would support Gen Prayut, 21.8% said they would not and 19.6% said they would abstain. The support level was the lowest ever in his term.
Besides, 65.9% of respondents said comments of politicians and academics would slightly influence their vote in a charter referendum and 34.1% said such comments would have great impacts. (END)
