Defence Chief applauds armed forces for success of Cobra Gold 2018
BANGKOK, March 5 (TNA) -- Chief of Defence Forces Gen Thanchaiyan Srisuwan chaired a meeting among the commander-in-chiefs of the armed forces today at the Royal Thai Navy headquarters.
After the meeting Gen Thanchaiyan told the media that he had personally thanked the armed forces and the Royal Thai Police for providing the vital manpower and material support for the Cobra Gold 2018, the largest annual Asia-Pacific military exercise. He says that their efforts highlight the state of readiness and capabilities of Thai security forces to all allies.
The Royal Thai Army was praised for making the necessary preparations to facilitate a company of the Army Engineering Corp for their peace-keeping duties in the Republic of Sudan.
Gen Thanchaiyan then praises the Royal Thai Navy for continuously building and fostering offshore ties with the navies of Thailand's allies which has allowed maritime threats such as human trafficking, illegal fishing, fugitive immigration and smuggling to be effectively tackled.
The Royal Thai Air Force was commended as well for developing and strengthening close ties with other Asian airforces which the Defence Chief felt not only contributed greatly to improved regional security but has also been critical in providing humanitarian relief in times of natural calamities.
Last but not least Gen. Thanchaiyan applauded the Royal Thai Police, without whom the other three arms of national security force would not have been able to accomplish what they have. Only because the Royal Thai Police was able to ensure public safety and facilitating and coordinating transportation and logistical support had Cobra Gold 2018 been able to achieve success.(TNA)
