Delhi police denies it concluded IRGC was behind attack on Israeli diplomat

TEHRAN,Aug.1(MNA) - Delhi Police has denied that it has come to any conclusion yet regarding the involvement of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps in the February 13 bomb attack on an Israeli diplomat in the national capital, the Times of India reported on Tuesday. Reacting to the report “Cops name Iran military arm for attack on Israeli diplomat” in the mentioned paper on Monday, the police spokesperson has denied that IRGC members had discussed the plan to attack Israeli diplomats with Seyyed Mohammad Ahmad Kazmi, who has been arrested in connection with the attack. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ramin Mehmanparast on March 18 welcomed India’s decision to seek cooperation from Iran to shed light on the bombing. The Islamic Republic fully abides by its commitments to the terms of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961 and is determined in its campaign against terrorism, Mehmanparast said at the time. In a statement issued on March 16, Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said, “We have informed the Iranian ambassador of (the) developments so as to seek the cooperation of the Iranian authorities in bringing those involved in this dastardly attack to justice.” Mehmanparast also said at the time that Israel has been involved in the assassinations of Iranian nuclear scientists, adding, “The Islamic Republic of Iran is the main victim of terrorism in the world.” Mehmanparast added that the international community shoulders a great responsibility to combat terrorism.
