Dialogue only way out of nuclear deadlock:Iranian former nuclear negotiator

TEHRAN,Jan.2(MNA) – Hassan Rohani, Iran’s former chief nuclear negotiator, said on Tuesday that negotiation is the only way out of the nuclear deadlock with the West.
Rohani, the current director of the Strategic Research Center of the Expediency Council, told reporters on Sunday that if the West is truly seeking to reach an agreement with Iran, it must avoid measures such as intensifying sanctions or passing resolutions against Iran.
The West has clearly stated that it would keep on the dual policy of negotiation and pressure on Iran, but as before this approach will not bear fruit, he said.
Iran is holding talks with the 5+1 group (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany) over the country’s nuclear program, and the latest round of talks was held in Moscow on June 18 and 19.
Rohani also said that the talks can provide the West with a good opportunity to prove its truthfulness.
Rohani does not rule out presidential candidacy
Replying to a question about speculations about his candidacy in the 2013 presidential election, Rohani said, “I have not entered into negotiations in this regard, but a number of political figures, Parliament members and academics have suggested that I run for election.”
He added, “I don’t deny running for the upcoming presidential election.”
He stated that every candidate must develop his plans to help improve the current situation in the country and that “If I make my final decision to run for presidency, I also will have my plans.”
The former secretary of the Supreme National Security Council also said that if the ground is prepared for participation in election by all parties who have faith in the Islamic system the country’s situation would improve.
