Doors of principlist coalition not closed yet: Iran`s Haddad-Adel

TEHRAN,May 13(MNA) – Iranian MP Gholam Ali Haddad-Adel, who is a member of the three-strong principlist coalition set to contest the June presidential election, said that “the doors of the coalition are not closed.” Haddad-Adel along with former foreign minister Ali Akbar Velayati and Tehran Mayor Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf are members of the three-member coalition. Talking to students at the University of Tehran on Sunday, presidential candidate Haddad-Adel said that in order to avoid diversity of principlist candidates, the coalition has devised a number of methods including surveys to see which candidate enjoys more popularity among the public. For example, if surveys show that principlist hopeful Saeed Jalili has high chances to win a majority of votes in the June 14 election, “we cannot ignore this,” he said, implying that the three members of the coalition could withdraw in favor of Jalili. Supreme National Security Council Secretary Saeed Jalili signed up his name for the presidential election on Saturday.
