EP rapporteur condemns Istanbul attack

BRUSSELS (A.A) - March 1, 2012 - European Parliament (EP) rapporteur condemned on Thursday a bomb attack on police officers in Istanbul, Turkey. Ria Oomen-Ruijten released a statement in which she shared agonies of those injured in Thursday's attack on police in Istanbul. Oomen-Ruijten's remarks came after a remote-control bomb was detonated in Istanbul's Beyoglu district, wounding ten people. The bomb exploded when a vehicle carrying 21 police officers was passing by on Sutluce Imrahor Street, slightly injuring 10 of them. In her statement, Oomen-Ruijten said the EP Committee on Foreign Affairs condemned all terrorist attacks in its report published earlier on Thursday, and called on Turkey and European Union member states to boost their cooperation in fight against terrorism.
