European Parliament members sharply condemn military and political regime of Armenia

Baku, July 11, AZERTAC Members of the European Parliament have sharply condemned the military and political regime of Armenia as the Committee on Foreign Affairs held debates on the recent escalation of tension on the line of contact between the Armenian and Azerbaijani troops. Slovenian MP Ivo Vajgl, Romanian MP Norika Nikolai, Lithuanian MP Petras Austrevijius and Croatian MP Željana Zovko condemned Armenia`s occupation of Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent districts of Azerbaijan, which resulted in the emergence of more than one million refugees and IPDs. They also sharply condemned the killing of Azerbaijani civilians by the Armenian military who shelled Alkhanli village earlier this month. The MPs emphasized the necessity of resolving the dispute based on the international law and the principle of recognition of international borders. An Armenian expert expressed regret over the militarization of the Armenian society and the centralization of power in the administration of the Armenian President.
