FM: Africa To Achieve Its Glory And Magnificence Soon

Tehran, May 26, IRNA – Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi, in a message to commemoration ceremony for World African Day, said that the continent will achieve its glory and magnificence soon. Salehi, in his message on Saturday evening to the ceremony, which is held here in Tehran in the presence of Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance and African countries ambassadors in Tehran in the venue of Organization of Culture and Islamic Communications headquarter, felicitated the 50th anniversary of unity in Africa and added that the day is a symbol of Africans nationsˈ intention to get free from colonialism. He continued the great continent of Africa has great potentials and opportunities and now by relying on its spiritual and material capitals is taking big steps toward liberation from colonialism. Salehi noted that Africa, in the second half of the 20th century, found its position in the world equations and now it considers not only as a pioneer in fight against arrogant powers, but is an inspiration source for oppressed nations. The foreign minister underlined that existing international system has no solution for problems of south-south countries . Referring to Iranˈs rotating chairmanship on Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), Salehi said that NAM as an important body in international arena is a connecting ring between all groups, nations and governments who want change and Iran as its chairman has always underlined the high ideals of the founders of the movement./end
