FM Cummings: Guyana is interested in developing relations with Azerbaijan

Baku, January 15, AZERTAC Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov and Foreign Minister of Guyana Karen Cummings have exchanged congratulatory letters on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. In her letter addressed to Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov, Guyana`s Minister of Foreign Affairs Karen Cummings congratulated the Government and the people of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Guyana and Azerbaijan. Cummings has reiterated her country’s interest in further growth of bilateral relations with Azerbaijan in the years ahead. Minister Karen Cummings mentioned the cordial relations between the two nations that rooted in common values and shared vision for the pursuit of the prosperity of the two peoples. She stressed the growth of friendship over the past 25 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations on 9 January 1995. Cummings also highlighted the deepening of bilateral collaboration between two nations for the issues of mutual interest and to be addressed by the international system, including climate change and UN reform issues. In his letter, Minister Elmar Mammadyarov congratulated his counterpart Karen Cummings on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Guyana. He mentioned that the cooperation based on the spirit of friendship and mutual understanding between the two nations opens up new opportunities for further advancement of the bilateral relations. Minister Mammadyarov hailed Guyana’s valuable support concerning the settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of internationally recognized borders of Azerbaijan cemented by the related UNSC resolutions. FM Elmar Mammadyarov expressed his confidence that both sides would continue joint efforts based on shared interests and common values towards the achievement of the full potential of multifaceted cooperation. Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Guyana were established on 9 January, 1995.
