FM Spokesman: Enemies Seeking To Sow Religious, National Discord In Egypt

Tehran, June 26, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Araqchi condemned killing of four Shiites in Egypt and said enemies who are suffering from the blow of Egyptian revolution are trying to sow religious and tribal discord in the country. Making the remark during his weekly press briefing, he stressed that Iran condemned any move to sow discord within the Islamic community and considered them as plots engineered by foreign elements. Stressing the importance of Egypt’s national unity for Iran, he also referred to the previous attempts of enemies to create differences between Muslims and Christians in Egypt and said they are now working to sow discord among different Islamic sects. Araqchi further stressed that Iran was only an onlooker of the situation in Egypt and said Tehran considered developments in the country as domestic ones./end
