FM Urges Yemen To Try Hard To Release Iran Diplomat

Tehran, Aug 23, IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif, in a telephone conversation with his Yemeni counterpart Abu-Bakr al-Qirbi, urged Yemeni government to seriously follow up the efforts to release Iranian kidnapped diplomat. According to the report of Foreign Ministry Media Department on Friday, Yemen Foreign Minister, in his telephone call, felicitated his Iranian counterpart on his appointment as the new Foreign Minister of Iran and wished him success and expressed his country’s readiness to develop ties with Iran. Referring to efforts of his government to release Iranian kidnapped diplomat Nour Ahmad Nikbakht, al-Qirbi said they are following up the case seriously and expressed hope that these efforts bear fruit and the kidnapped person would be released. Zarif, by appreciating his Yemeni counterpart, stressed that Iran has always supported stability and unity in Yemen. He also appreciated Yemen government efforts in this case and expressed hope that with more serious efforts of the Yemen government, the kidnapped Iranian diplomat would be released as soon as possible. The report added that an Iranian legal-consulate delegation will travel to Yemen on Monday to follow up the issue./end
