FOREIGN MINISTER LEGS STANFORD UNIVERSITY

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Mongolian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr L.Purevsuren visited the Stanford Center on Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law (CDDRL) at the Stanford University, the Mongolian Foreign Ministry's website said. At a meeting with Prof. Larry Diamond, the FM noted about the 25th anniversary of the first democratic election of Mongolia, which is celebrated this year, and underlined an importance of taking scholars' advice and opinions about the democracy. In response, Mr Diamond talked about his impression about Mongolia during his visit to the country, its present situation of democratic development and formation. After this, the FM met Professor Gi-Wook Shin, a director of the Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center at the Stanford University (APARC); former Ambassador M.Armacost, a researcher at the APARC; and a retired Lieutenant-GeneralKarl Eikenberry, a researcher at the Center for International Security and Cooperation (CISAC). They held a roundtable meeting to exchange views on ways of further cooperation.
