Foreign minister wants an end to reports on Gambian minister’s remark

BANGKOK, Feb 28 (TNA) -- Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai said his ministry already wrote a letter to protest against the Gambian tourism minister’s remark on Thailand as a sex tour destination and the mass media should stop reporting it to protect the national image. Mr Don was responding to Gambian Tourism and Culture Minister Hamat Bah’s recent remark that tourists from the West who like sex tours should visit Thailand instead of Gambia. It was a diplomatic mistake as no national leaders had made such a remark, Mr Don said. “I want an end. The issue should not be prolonged or exaggerated in the way that will affect the national image,” he said. Mr Don also said that the matter should be verified. (TNA)
