Former DPM vows to quit politics if found guilty
BANGKOK, July 27 (TNA) - Thailand's former Democrat deputy prime minister Suthep Thuagsuban, who is now an opposition MP, vowed on Friday that he would quit politics if the Senate ruled he had abused his power while being in office.
The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) ruled on Thursday that Suthep was guilty of abusing his authority when being in office by interfering in the work of permanent officials at the Ministry of Culture in February 2009.
The NACC's initial ruling could lead to the 64-year-old former Democrat deputy premier's being banned from politics for five years if upheld by the Senate.(TNA)
