Former PM voted acting Pheu Thai Party leader

BANGKOK, October 8 (TNA) - Former deputy prime minister Police Lieutenant General Viroj Pao-in has been voted the acting leader of Thailand's ruling Pheu Thai Party. The acting executive board of the ruling Pheu Thai Party voted for Police Lieutenant General Viroj, now an MP, as the party's acting leader at its meeting Monday, pending the election of its new leader, set to be held at its general assembly on October 30, along with the election of its new executive board. The vote for the Pheu Thai Party's acting leader followed the resignation of former party's leader Yongyuth Wichaidit, effective from October 1. Pheu Thai Party's acting spokesman Prompong Nopparit told a press conference that Police Lieutenant General Viroj was chosen as the party's acting leader for his seniority and comprehensive knowledge on laws and party regulations.
