French researcher says lack of leadership seen in EU

PARIS (A.A) - November 2, 2011 - A French researcher has said that there was a serious lack of leadership in the European Union (EU).  Dorothee Schmid, a researcher at the French Institute of International Relations, told AA correspondent that lack of leadership was one of the reasons in the eurozone debt crisis. Replying to questions of the AA ahead of G-20 Summit to be held in Cannes, Schmid said that EU had been established as a single voice of countries and EU countries started to use euro currency to be influential in economy. But weakness in decision mechanism was one of the biggest problems in the EU, Schmid said. French researcher said that several countries' reaching an agreement on an issue slowed down the decision mechanism.
