Georgia will continue efforts for normalising relations with Russia - premier

TBILISI, June 4 (Itar-Tass) - Georgia will continue exerting every effort for normalising relations with Russia, Georgia’s premier Irakly Garibashvili has said. Georgia “takes a constructive position on this aspect”, Garibashvili told a news conference on Wednesday. “Over 1.5 years the new government has taken concrete steps towards normalising relations with Russia. Certain progress has been achieved,” he said. “We succeeded in overcoming tension in our political relations. We maintain cultural cooperation,” Garibashvili said. He praised the fact that “in 2013 Russia lifted the embargo on Georgian wines, mineral waters and agricultural products”. “The development of trade and economic cooperation has big significance for our country,” Garibashvili said.
