German government follows with concern Ukraine’s humanitarian situation

BERLIN, August 11 (Itar-Tass) - Germany’s government continues to follow the humanitarian situation in Ukraine’s war-torn Donetsk and Lugansk regions, government spokesman Steffen Seibert said in Berlin on Monday.
He said Germany was deeply concerned about further deterioration of the situation there and urged to provide humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. Russian humanitarian goods “may be delivered only with unconditional consent of the Ukrainian government”, he said.
Humanitarian assistance should be carried out “under the auspices of international organisations”, such as the Red Cross or the United Nations, Seibert added.
The spokesman welcomed the fact that “apparently, there is an agreement on humanitarian aid deliveries” between Moscow and Kiev. Details should be worked out by an international contact group comprising representatives from Ukraine, Russia and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), he said.
