Government extends best Songkran wishes to statesman

BANGKOK, April 11 (TNA) -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha led cabinet ministers and armed forces chiefs to extend their best wishes to Privy Council president and statesman Prem Tinsulanonda at his Si Sao Thewet residence in Bangkok Wednesday. The meeting was an annual tradition there on the occasion of Songkran or Thai New Year. Gen Prayut said his delegation wished Gen Prem to have good health and they promised to follow the latter’s guideline for people to return favours to the motherland. The prime minister also said that his government was preparing the country to cope with future challenges including trade wars. The government was also focusing on the development of human resources and the democratic rule that would ensure transparency and fairness, he said. Pending the development, his National Council for Peace and Order had to impose many laws which caused dissatisfaction and misunderstanding, he said. In response, Gen Prem thanked Gen Prayut for preserving Thai traditions related to Songkran and working for the national interest. Before leaving Gen Prem’s residence, Gen Prayut told armed forces chiefs to do what they promised with Gen Prem and work for the nation. (TNA)
