GUAM Foreign Ministers Council held in Basel

Kiev, December 5, AzerTAc Within the 21st meeting of the OSCE Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs, the 24th meeting of GUAM Council of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs was held at the Swiss city of Basel. Azerbaijan was represented by FM Elmar Mammadyarov. The meeting took into account information of the Moldovan side on the carried-out work on promotion of the draft resolution “Protracted conflicts in the GUAM area and their implications for international peace, security and development” as Moldova chairs the Council. The sides exchanged views in connection with the latest events in conflict zones on GUAM space and condemned the actions directed against their sovereignty and territorial integrity within international and recognized borders. Participants expressed gratitude to the Moldovan side for successful presidency and made the decision on transfer to Ukraine of presidency in the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development – GUAM. Participants welcomed holding the 8th meeting of Bureau of the GUAM Parliamentary Assembly, and also the 7th plenary session of GUAM PA on November 10-11 current year in Kishinev and adoption of the Communiqué of GUAM PA and the Joint statement of GUAM PA, the Baltic Assembly and parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Poland. The meeting also discussed questions of GUAM cooperation with other states and the international structures, in particular, holding the next meetings of GUAM-USA and GUAM-Japan at the level of foreign ministers Council.
