Hearts of Iranian and Egyptian people are close: Iran`s Velayati

TEHRAN,April 25(MNA) – Despite certain political ups and downs, the hearts of Iranian and Egyptian people are close, the secretary-general of the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening said on Wednesday. During a meeting with Egyptian academics and lawyers in Tehran, Ali Akbar Velayati said that Egypt is a great country with an old civilization that has significantly contributed to the Arab and Islamic culture and civilization. He added the people who have done a revolution in Egypt are also able to establish a powerful government. Velayati’s meeting with Egyptian dignitaries came as Iran is preparing to host an international conference on “the Islamic Awakening and Ulema” on April 29 and 30. About 500 scholars from Muslim countries would attend the forum. The Islamic Awakening which started in the Arab world in 2011 has far brought down dictatorial regimes in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, and Yemen.
