Hegemonic Powers Trying To Misinterpret Islamic Awakening : Official

Tehran, Sept 15, IRNA – Hegemonic powers are trying to misinterpret Islamic Awakening as a phenomenon which would bring no peace, stability, security and lasting development to the region, senior Foreign Ministry official has recently said. Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks in a recent interview with the Institute for the Compilation & Publication of Imam Khomeini's Works. Referring to situations in Syria and Egypt, he said it was hard to draw a bright future for the region considering critical situations in those countries. The hegemonic system and some of its regional and trans-regional players have focused their efforts, particularly in the past 18 months, on misinterpreting the notion of the Islamic Awakening as a phenomenon which would lead to no result but insecurity, chaos and violence, Amir-Abdollahian said. He added that since Washington and Tel Aviv believe that the Islamic Awakening is against their own interest, they make attempts to stop such movements in the region./end
