Hide-processing and chemical factories to be relocated outside of Ulaanbaatar
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ At the Citizens Representatives Khural of Ulaanbaatar meeting, held Tuesday, the Program on developing the ciptal city’s industrial and technological parks was adopted.
Today, all kinds of industries are running operations in Ulaanbaatar. Being concentrated in Khan-Uul and Songinokhairkhan districts, the livestock secondary products processing factories have been bringing about inconvenience to the citizens’ lives in certain ways. Moreover, the industrial waste is a main factor of Ulaanbaatar’s air and soil pollution.
Therefore, in order to make the industries environmentally friendly, a decision to evacuate the city’s processing factories and relocate them into the new industrial parks to be erected in Ulaanbaatar’s satellite towns was reflected in the General Guidelines for Capital City Development until 2020, Development Strategy until 2030 and the Strategy for Economic Development of Ulaanbaatar, adopted this year.
The decision to relocate the raw-hide processing factories outside of Ulaanbaatar was made by issuing Parliament Resolution no. 74 in 2012. In accordance with the resolution, the relocating procedure must be completed by December 31, 2017.
Also, Government Resolution No. 104 of 2011 directs to establish a coal-chemical technology park in Baganuur town, Government Resolution No. 356 of 2014 – the primary processing plants in the valley of Shar Hots, and Government Resolution No. 171 of 2012 – to concentrate construction material factories in the satellite towns of Ulaanbaatar.
Since then, three feasibility studies on the industrial and technological parks have been prepared.
As the Law on Legal Statuses of Industrial and Technology Parks determines the locations and territories of those parks, state-owned factories named “Emeelt industrial and technology park for light industry”, “Nalaikh industrial and technology park for civil construction” and “Baganuur industrial and technology park” have commenced operations.
Investments of MNT 303.4 billion for Emeelt park, MNT 134.9 billion for Nalaikh park, MNT 105.9 billion for Baganuur park have been estimated as required.
The feasibility study for Eco-Park, waste recycling plant, is undergoing the preparation phase. Thus, the investment is not yet determined.
