High turnout for election will dash enemy’s hopes:Supreme Leader

TEHRAN,June 13(MNA) – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei called on the Iranian people to turn out in large numbers for Friday’s presidential election, saying a high turnout will dash the enemy’s hopes. Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks in Tehran on Wednesday during a meeting with thousands of people from all walks of life. “I am insistent on a maximum turnout for the election because the massive participation of the Iranian nation will disappoint the enemy and cause it to reduce pressure and pursue a different path,” he said. “God willing, the political epic that has already started will reach its climax on Friday through the people’s hope, reliance (on God), and resolve and will be fully realized,” he added. Elsewhere in his remarks, the Leader highlighted the importance of participation in the election and said, “The people’s participation is more important than any other thing for the country, so even the people who only love the country should participate in the election.” He also said that if the president received an overwhelming vote, he would be able to stand up to the nation’s enemies and defend national interests more strongly. In addition, the Leader said that Iran should strongly resist foreigners’ illegitimate demands because if the country showed weakness on the world stage, the enemies would step up their demands.
