HM the King endorses appointment of election commissioners

BANGKOK, Aug 15 (TNA) – His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn has endorsed the appointment of five election commissioners, submitted by the National Legislative Assembly. The announcement of the royal endorsement was published in the royal gazette on Aug 12. Ittiporn Boonprakong is selected as the Election Commission (EC) chairman. Other members are Santhat Siriananpaiboon, Thawatchai Therdpaothai, Chatchai Chanpraisri and Pakorn Mahannop. After the royal approval, the new EC chairman, Itthiporn said that he has no date fixed for the start of his work at the Election Commission Office. He will first discuss with the EC Secretary-General the next two days or at the beginning of next week. After that, he will talk with other new EC members about the work plan and will discuss several issues with outgoing EC, including the latter’s initiative on the process to select election inspectors.
