Idea of creating Asian Union discussed in Baku

Azerbaijan, Baku, June 22 / Trend M. Aliyev / There is a great need for enhanced cooperation between Asian countries and their political parties, deputy chairman and executive secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan party Ali Ahmadov said at the seventh meeting of the Standing Committee of the General Assembly of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) today. "This cooperation will give an impetus for the establishment of an Asian Union," he said. "Despite the fact the economic potential of Asia is in first place in the world, it does not have the same political influence." He stressed the importance of creating the Asian Union and Parliamentary Union of Asian countries. "The people must deal with the future of their regions," he said. "Otherwise, extra-regional countries will deal with the fate of these people. There are many regions in Asia. Outside forces often deal with them." He said that the seventh General Assembly of the ICAPP to be held in Baku in November must be organised at the highest level. The seventh session of the Standing Committee of the General Assembly of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) is being held in Baku on June 22-23. Its participants representing political parties from 17 countries will discuss the agenda for the upcoming General Assembly session. Do you have any feedback?
