Imam Khomeini Remembered As Great Thinker, Spiritual Leader

Islamabad, June 9, IRNA – Speakers at a seminar on Saturday described Father of the Islamic Revolution, the late Imam Khomeini as a great thinker and spiritual guide for Muslims around the world. A seminar was held Saturday to commemorate the 24th death anniversary of the late Imam Khomeini, organized by the cultural consulate of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Deputy Ambassador of Iran, Mohammad Hussain Ravish on the occasion said Imam Khomeini was a great leader who had sacrificed his life for the destiny of Muslims. “Today we need unity among Muslims,” he stressed. Stressing that the legacy of Imam Khomeini is still alive, he said Muslims must not listen to voices of those who are trying to divide Ummah. Chief guest of the seminar former senator and religious leader Dr.Abdul Khaliq said Imam Khomeini, by the Islamic Revolution, showed a new direction to the Iranian society. The scholar paid homage to Imam Khomeini and warned against conspiracies that aim to divide Muslims. Deputy Cultural Counsel of Iran Embassy Agha Ali Dosti said that Imam Khomeini is the spiritual guide of all Muslims. He added that the Imam was a symbol of courage. Umar Riaz Abbasi of Tehreek-e-Minhaj-ul-Quran said that Imam Khomeini is the symbol of revolution in Pakistani society. “We need a leader like Imam Khomeini,” he said. He added that late Imam had given a new vision to his people. Imam had taught the world that Islam is the religion of peace,he said urging the Muslims to unite for the stability of Ummah. Ghazanfar Mehdi, a politician and renowned scholar said that Imam Khomeini is the leader of mankind. “The message of Imam Khomeini is for the whole mankind,” he said. The scholar asked people around the world to follow the teachings of Imam Khomeini. Asif Luqman Qazi, a religious leader said that younger generation of Muslims must be taught about the teachings of Imam Khomeini. He added that Imam was a great leader of 20th century. Saqib Akbar an Islamic scholar said that Imam Khomeini had always stressed the importance of unity of Muslims. Jamil Qalandar, professor of Islamic International University expressing his views said that Imam Khomeini had changed the fate of the Iranian nation. Sardar Muhammad Ejaz, a politician, urged Muslim nations to follow the path of Imam Khomeini. Nadia Mujahid, a scholar from Quaid-e-Azam University said that Imam Khomeini showed that Islam and politics are interlinked. She added that the Imam proved to the world that Islam is the best form of government. Maulana Amin Ansari said that Imam Khomeini is the symbol of unity for the Muslim Ummah. He praised the efforts of late Imam for reviving the cause of Palestine. During the seminar several poets read out poems in Persian and Urdu paying tribute to the late Imam. A short film about Imam Khomeini was also shown in the seminar. Large number of scholars, religious personalities from different schools of thought, politicians and students attended the seminar. A photo exhibition and a book exhibit were also set up on the sidelines of the seminar./end
