Indonesia, Norway Enhance Human Rights Establishment
Jakarta, Nov 27 (ANTARA) - Indonesia and Norwegia are enhancing human rights establishment by organizing three days of discussion about the issue during the Norwegian Crown Prince Haakon Magnus`s visit to Jakarta.
"The presence of Crown Prince Haakon Magnus in this dialogue refresh the special bond of friendship that exist between our two countries, indeed both Indonesia and Norway enjoy a special relationship," Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa said here on Monday when opening the discussion.
The Eleventh Human Rights Dialogue between Indonesia and Norway will be held from Nov 26 to 28, 2012 in Borobudur Hotel, Jakarta.
The bilateral discussion will talk about Indonesian military and police tasks, interfaith and culture of tolerance as well as the rights of children.
In the second day, the delegations will visit the Indonesian Peacekeeping Center in Sentul, West Java and also the Istiqlal Mosque, the Cathedral and the Vihara (Budhist Temple).
They are also scheduled to visit Pondok Bambu`s Child Detention Center in Jakarta and Women`s Detention Center in Tangerang to understand the enforcement of human rights for women and children in Indonesia.
Marty said that the understanding that goes beyond intergovernmental level has established concrete cooperation, not only between various government agencies but also among civil society.
"Protection and promotion of human rights, as democratization is a process and not an event. It requires constant nurturing and encouragement and most definitely it requires resilient to overcome challenges," Minister Marty added.
He believed that the dialogue can contribute to the advancement of modern and dynamic partnership not only for both countries but also for people in the world.
Marty added that Indonesia and Norway have tight relationship since a long ago proven by mutual support from the two countries in many sectors such as human rights, environment, climate change and trade.
He added that Norway is one of the first countries that support the Bali Democracy Forum (BDF) in 2008 proposed by Indonesia in order to consolidate democracy implementation in the world.
Besides, Norway is also a partner for Indonesia in the collaboration to find solutions for climate change and environment problems.
