Insecurity in Afghanistan can affect Iran, Iranian official says

TEHRAN, May 8 (MNA) – Iran said on Tuesday that the content of the strategic agreement between the U.S. and Afghanistan is ambiguous and insisted that insecurity in neighboring Afghanistan will have negative effects on Iran. “Any instability and insecurity in Afghanistan can affect Iranian security,” Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast told a news briefing. Mehmanparast also said, “Peace, stability and security in Afghanistan is of great important to us and we do not consider Afghanistan’s security separate from Iran’s security.” Earlier the Foreign Ministry had said the U.S.-Afghanistan Strategic Partnership Agreement is a cause of concern for Iran.
