IOR-ARC secretary general hails Iran’s ‘valuable’ contributions

GURGAON, India,Nov.6(MNA) – Iran is a very active member of the Indian Ocean Rim-Association for Regional Cooperation and is making valuable contributions to the association, according to K. V. Bhagirath, the secretary general of the IOR-ARC.
Mr. Bhagirath made the remarks during an interview with the Tehran Times correspondent in Gurgaon, Haryana, India, on October 30 before a press briefing about the 12th Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the IOR-ARC, which was held in the same city on November 2.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has been a very active member of the IOR-ARC. The contribution has always been valuable. One of our important agencies which is the regional center for science and technology is based in Tehran and is a very active center. We are very happy that Iran plays an important role,” Mr. Bhagirath stated.
Mr. H Graham Anderson, the director of the IOR-ARC, also gave an interview to the Tehran Times on the same day, in which he stated, “Iran is very much focused I think on the research and on workshops (in regard to) finding solutions to areas where the organization can better itself. And the RCSTT (Regional Center for Science and Technology Transfer) is doing a lot of works on that. They organize a lot of workshops, and they make a very valuable contribution to the organization. And we are pleased (with) that. I think Iran is an important player in the organization.”
