Iran’s Embassy In Ankara Urges Self-Restraint For Syria-Turkey

Ankara, Oct 8, IRNA – Islamic Republic of Iran’s Embassy in Ankara said that maintaining territorial integrity of Syria and Turkey are the prerequisites to establishment of calm in the region. Iranian Embassy in Ankara dispatched to Turkish media the statements of Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and Africa Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian who explained Islamic Republic of Iran’s stance on the increasing tension between Syria and Turkey. “Maintaining territorial integrity of both Syria and Turkey is the first prerequisite for establishing peace in the Middle East region,” the deputy foreign minister added. Amir Abdollahian said that the Islamic Republic of Iran by taking the recent border skirmishes between Turkey and Syria calls on the Syrian and Turkish governments to maintain their self-restraint and closely investigate the issue, as well as pay heed to the objectives of the enemies in the region. “The security of the region depends on controlling the borders of Syria’s neighbors and in the Cairo and New York talks this has been highlighted,” the diplomat added./end
