Iran, Argentina reach agreement on AMIA bombing

TEHRAN,Jan.28(MNA) – Iran and Argentina have reached an agreement on developing a framework for pursuing the case of the bombing of the Argentine Israeli Mutual Association (AMIA) building, which took place on July 18, 1994, Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi and Argentine Foreign Minister Hector Timerman said in a joint statement issued on Sunday. The case of the AMIA attack has remained a mystery for 18 years, and no significant information has been provided by the Argentine government on the main cause of the incident and the real culprits. The Argentine government only leveled false allegations against the Lebanese Hezbollah and Iran that it could never prove. “After a number of meetings at the level of experts of the foreign ministries, the two sides reached an agreement on developing a framework for pursuing the case of the AMIA (bombing),” the statement said. In the statement, the two officials also said that they are intent on resolving the issue through bilateral cooperation and with the aid of legal experts.
