Iran condemns suicide bombing in Syria

TEHRAN,July 18(MNA) – The Iranian Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Wednesday condemning the attack that took place in Syria on the same day in which Syrian Defense Minister Daoud Rajha and several other officials were killed. Following is the text of the statement: The Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns today’s terrorist action in Damascus, in which several officials, including the Syrian defense minister, were killed and offers the condolences of the nation and government of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the people and government of this country and sympathizes with the victims. The Islamic Republic of Iran, as it has repeatedly mentioned, condemns any use of violence and resort to destructive actions and believes that the only way out of the ongoing crisis in Syria is holding negotiations to find political ways out of the existing problems because any instability in the country can exacerbate the tension and the crisis in the region and lead to the further spread of violence and instability. Foreign interference and the shipment of weapons to the country and the support of certain regional and international players for terrorist actions that target the stability and security of Syria and its resistant people will definitely get nowhere, and such activities should be immediately stopped. In addition, Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi held a telephone conversation with Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al Muallem on Wednesday condemning the attack.
