Iran criticizes countries preventing national dialogue in Syria

TEHRAN,March 4(MNA) – Iran on Sunday criticized the countries that hinder the efforts to hold national dialogue in Syria meant to resolve the crisis that has gripped Syria since March 2011. Important and influential regional countries must play a role in the efforts to improve the situation in Syria, Salehi said during a meeting with Mousa Mohammed Abu Marzook, a senior member of Hamas. During the meeting, Salehi commented on the Palestinian issue and said that Iran, as the chair of the Non-Aligned Movement, would continue to support Palestinian resistance groups to help alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people caused by the Zionist regime. Marzook, for his part, thanked the Iranian nation and government for supporting Palestine and described the Islamic Republic as a great regional country whose influence cannot be ignored. He also commented on the crisis in Syria, saying that efforts should be made to resolve the situation without foreign interference. “The enemy’s efforts to create insecurity and instability in Muslim countries are only meant to serve the interests of the illegitimate Zionist regime, and this regime is seeking to undermine the power and importance of important Muslim countries, including Syria,” Marzook said.
