Iran determined to cooperate with UN nuclear agency: Iranian ambassador

TEHRAN,April 25(MNA) – Iran is determined to cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to help clear up ambiguities about the country’s nuclear program, Iranian ambassador to the UN nuclear watchdog told on Wednesday.
Ali Asghar Soltanieh also said that Iran and the IAEA had agreed to hold a new round of talks over the country’s nuclear activities on May 15 in Vienna.
“The agreement illustrates Iran’s political will and goodwill to cooperate with the agency in order to help clear up ambiguities, disprove certain countries’ claims, and prove the peacefulness of Iran’s nuclear activities,” he said.
The IAEA-Iran talks are separate from, but have an important bearing on, diplomatic negotiations between Tehran and six world powers aimed at a broad settlement to the decade-old dispute over the country’s nuclear work.
Western powers suspect Iran is trying to develop the capability to produce nuclear weapons under the guise of a declared civilian atomic energy program. Iran denies this, saying it seeks only electricity and medical applications from uranium enrichment.
The Iran-IAEA negotiations in Vienna will be the 10th round of talks between the two sides since early 2012.
The last round of negotiations was held in February.
