Iran, Djibouti call for expansion of economic ties

TEHRAN,Nov.17(MNA) – Djibouti’s President Ismail Omar Guelleh and Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi called for the expansion of economic ties between the two countries. The two officials made the remarks during a meeting on Thursday held on the sidelines of the 39th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which opened on Thursday and closes on Saturday. Salehi pointed to the strong political relationship between Iran and Djibouti and highlighted the importance of increasing bilateral economic cooperation. Djibouti’s president also described the relationship between the two countries as special and said that the ground is prepared for enhancing bilateral economic relations. Elsewhere in his remarks, Guelleh criticized the hegemonistic powers and the Zionist regime for promoting injustice in the world and called for increased cooperation between Muslim countries in order to help resolve problems facing the Muslim world. In separate meetings on Thursday on the sidelines of the OIC meeting, Salehi also held talks with foreign ministers of Pakistan, Turkey, Oman, Mali, Djibouti, and Kyrgyzstan about the recent Israeli military operation against the Gaza Strip, the situation in the crisis-hit Syria, and the killing of Muslims in Myanmar.
