Iran former Transport Ministry official convicted of taking bribe

TEHRAN, May 7 (MNA) - The ninth court session in the trial of the defendants accused of involvement in a $2.6 billion financial fraud case was held in Tehran on Sunday. The Arya Investment Company is at the center of the controversy, and Mah-Afarid Amir-Khosravi, who is one of the main owners of the company, is the number one suspect in the case. His three brothers are other owners of the company. The indictments issued for a number of the defendants were read during the court session. One of the defendants, who formerly served as a director in charge of planning and budget affairs at the Transportation Ministry, had been convicted of taking a bribe amounting to $266,000 from the former managing director of the railway engineering company. However, he rejected the conviction.
