Iran-Germany FMs Meet

United Nations, New York, Sept 25, IRNA – Foreign Minister of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif and his German counterpart Guido Westerwelle held talks on issues of mutual interest as well as the latest regional and international developments here on Tuesday evening. The two ministers also discussed the ways to enhance mutual ties and Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities. Pointing to Tehran-Berlin amicable relations, Zarif stressed that Germany plays a pivotal role in the European Union (EU). On Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, Zarif underlined that Tehran is ready to hold direct and serious negotiations. He added that Irans nuclear issue could be settled only within the framework of negotiations and a fixed timetable. Westerwelle, for his part, stressed that Berlin is interested in fostering all-out ties with Tehran./end
