Iran has ‘seriously’ cooperated with IAEA:Iranian ambassador

TEHRAN,March 13(MNA) – The Iranian ambassador to France said Iran has “seriously” cooperated with the International Atomic Energy Agency.
“We are seeking a peaceful use of nuclear energy, which is completely within our legal and legitimate rights. Because of this, we are insisting on this legitimate right of ours because our people should be able to use this technology for energy and medical purposes,” Ambassador Ali Ahani told Prorussia TV in an interview broadcast on Monday.
“We have seriously cooperated with the International Atomic Energy Agency and its inspectors, and (the IAEA) has so far spent over 7,500 man-hours inspecting our nuclear facilities, which is unprecedented among the agency’s members,” he said.
Ahani added, “We have announced our readiness to reach an agreement to provide the necessary guarantees that our nuclear program is civilian and will remain civilian. Meanwhile, we believe that we should be provided with the necessary guarantees that we can continue our nuclear program and enrichment under the supervision of the agency.”
“We have fulfilled all the commitments stipulated in the NPT (Non-Proliferation Treaty), and most importantly, we are not seeking to produce an atomic bomb,” he said.
