Iran, Iraq keen on coop. to upgrade ties: FM Amirabdollahian

Tehran, IRNA - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hossein Amirabdollahian has underlined that the Iraqi and Iranian authorities pursue collaborations and consultations at different levels to enhance mutual relations. The Iranian foreign minister made the remarks in a Tuesday meeting with a number of thinkers, university professors, analysts, and journalists from Iraq while noting that Baghdad and Tehran enjoy special relationship at official and public levels. Amirabdollahian underscored that the brotherly and growing relationship between the two neighboring countries is of great importance, and that the ties will have positive impact on bilateral interests, as well as the West Asia region. The relationship between Iraq and Iran is noteworthy at both public and official levels in accordance with religious, historical, and cultural affinities of both nations, he argued. In the meeting, the Iraqi audience expressed gratitude to the top Iranian diplomat for the session, uttering their views and questions on different issues in particular on Iran-Iraq ties.
