Iran a major weight in the Islamic world: Saud al-Faisal

TEHRAN, May 13 (MNA) –Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister reemphasized Iran as a big country of political weight in the Muslim world and international system. Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi is visiting Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on the official invitation to attend the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Contact group on Mali and to discuss regional issues and other topics of interest with his Saudi counterpart. Saud al-Faisal received Salehi on Sunday and they discussed bilateral relations and regional developments. Salehi emphasized Iran's principled policy of strengthening relations and increased cooperation with the regional countries, particularly the neighboring countries. He believed that some disagreements between countries on regional were natural and emphasized on the need to focus on common interests and mutual investment, in order to take common positions. Saud al-Faisal described Iran and Saudi Arabia, the two important countries in the region, saying that “KSA always wish the best for Iran.” “We have always stressed that Iran is a great country that not only did Iran have a position in the Muslim world, but also it did in the world, and we are interested in building relationship [with Iran] based on mutual interest and brotherhood,” he said.
