Iran, Oman commemorate 40th anniversary of establishment of relations

TEHRAN,May (MNA) – The Islamic Republic of Iran and the Sultanate of Oman commemorated the 40th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations during a function held at the Iranian Foreign Ministry in Tehran on Tuesday.
Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi, Under-Secretary of the Omani Foreign Ministry for Diplomatic Affairs Ahmed bin Yousef bin Obaid al Harthy, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and a number of other Iranian and Omani officials attended the event.
In a speech during the ceremony, Salehi said that 14 rounds of meetings between members of the Iran-Oman joint economic commission, meetings of joint committees on military, political, and scientific affairs, and the exchange of visits by officials of the two countries showed good relations between Tehran and Muscat.
He also hailed the convergent policies adopted toward regional issues by Iran and Oman.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Salehi stated that the implementation of a project to transport gas from Iran to Oman would help enhance the level of economic cooperation.
The under-secretary of the Omani Foreign Ministry for diplomatic affairs, for his part, said that relations between the two countries were based on mutual trust, noting that the Sultanate was determined to strengthen ties with the Islamic Republic.
He also emphasized the need for the continuation of consultations, particularly within the context of the joint economic commission.
