Iran says human rights issue being used as a political tool

TEHRAN,Nov.13(MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said that the issue of human rights is being used by certain countries as a tool to achieve their political objectives. “The misuse of (the issue) of human rights for political purposes has deviated (the issue of) human rights from the right path,” Salehi said during the opening ceremony of the international conference on human rights and cultures in Tehran on Monday. Elsewhere in his remarks, the Iranian official said that in recent years, the international community has witnessed unprecedented attacks on and insults to people’s beliefs and religions, adding that the Muslim world has suffered most insults to its religious sanctities. “According to the principles of international law, the issue of insulting the beliefs of the human society is definitely regarded as a flagrant violation of fundamental human rights,” he said.
