Iran says Israel will regret aggression against Syria

TEHRAN,Feb.5(MNA) – The secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Saeed Jalili told a press conference in Damascus on Monday that Israel will regret its aggression against Syria. In an airstrike on January 30, Israel attacked a research center in Jamraya near Damascus, in which two people were killed and five others injured. “Just as it regretted its aggressions after the 33-day, 22-day and eight-day wars, today the Zionist regime will regret the aggression it launched against Syria,” Jalili said, referring to past wars between Israel and the Lebanese Hezbollah and Palestinian Hamas groups. Jalili had visited Damascus to express Iran’s support for the Syrian government following Israel’s air attack on the research center in the country. He also said, “We’ve said from the outset of the Syrian crisis that the only thing that can help resolve the crisis is national dialogue in Syria.” “We’ve said that terrorism and violent behaviors and killing innocent people cannot be a step toward defending the rights of the Syrian people,” he added. Jalili added that one of the plots against the Islamic world was creating internal strife among Muslims in order to reduce the pressure on Israel. The top Iranian security official also warned Muslims against sectarian conflicts, adding that the recent Israeli action was a significant indication of the Zionist regime’s disappointment in achieving its plots.
